Pentagonal Tunnel

Leica CL + Summarit 75mm f2.4

An tiny pentagonal tunnel, part of the playground at the Wild Ireland zoo. I was only taking cute family photos of my daughter, but this silhouetted shot showing her ‘ears’ came out more interesting than anticipated.

The scene becomes less mysterious once she crawls forward into the light, but still a nice photo. There is almost a 1970s feel to it - something about the winter suit, and the textures of the wood?

In colour the 1970s feel disappears, and I think the photos are less interesting. However, my husband prefers the colour versions.

It is extremely easy to focus telephoto lenses on the Leica CL, so I have used both the 75mm and the 90mm to photograph my daughter in motion with no problems getting her in focus. It actually works out well, because if I stand at a distance she does not feel as self-conscious and doesn’t stop what she is doing when she sees me with the camera.
