The Perfect Green Tiles

Leica CL + Summicron-C 40mm f2

One reason I dislike photographing in artificial light indoors, is that the colours never look right - no matter how I set the white balance and later mess with the image. For instance, here the warm and cool tones look as if they are competing and this grates on me when I look at the picture. However, I actually think this is true to life, considering the lighting and colour scheme of the establishment. I can of course convert the image to black and white, but the whole reason I took the picture were the green tiles. They are gorgeous, and the perfect shade of olive green. I want these exact tiles in my future imaginary house.

Same corner of the bar, in black and white. There was some interesting action happening here, with people coming up to order drinks flamboyantly. They were aware I was taking photos, and were okay with it. I do not like to photograph in secret, even though it is technically legal.

I like this photo, because the girl looks like a mermaid, which goes nicely with the tiles. Not sure why I framed the photo the way I did though, as opposed to show more of the tile and less of the empty floor space. This is a new bar that just opened in Derry, and we will be visiting it again, just for the photo opportunities alone. And the tiles!
