Rural Symphony for Men
When designing the Rural Symphony Pullover, I did not envision it as a men’s pattern. I assumed the proportions of the drop shoulder construction, in addition to the open, voluminous shawl collar, would create a distinctly feminine aesthetic.
So when my husband asked to try on this pattern sample, it was a bit unexpected. To my surprise it suited his proportions very well and he looked quite natural wearing it.
Long story short, this is now his sweater!
The full-length bodice option is a good fit for his long torso (for reference - on me, this sample reaches mid-thigh!). And the straight fit of the bodice has also adapted rather well to his shape. However, had I been knitting this specifically for him to begin with I would have done a tapered bodice for an even better fit.
With this in mind, I have now updated the Rural Symphony Pullover, adding yet another appendix. This appendix explains how to work a tapered bodice. As well as an A-line bodice, for anyone who would like to go in the other direction and create more ease over the hips.
If you have already purchased the pattern, you should have automatically received an update, with a download link. And if you’ve been considering purchasing this pattern, be aware aware that it now also includes bodice shaping options.
