NOTES ON YARN SELECTION
Choosing a yarn toward the DK end of the weight range will result in a more airy, open fabric (a woollen spun yarn that can be worked above gauge is recommended if opting for this). Choosing a yarn toward the Aran end of the weight range will result in a denser, firmer fabric.
Another possibility is to combine finer yarns to achieve a DK-Aran weight equivalent. For example:
. unspun wool held double (Nutiden and &Point are better suited for this than Plotulopi, which is too heavy)
. standard fingering weight yarn held double
. standard sport weight yarn, held double
. 1 strand fingering weight yarn, held together with 1 strand sport weight yarn
. 1strand fingering or sport weight yarn, held together with 1 strand lace weight mohair
Note: When combining yarns in this manner, you can use strands of the same colour, or use 2 different colours to achieve a marled effect.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SAGLAN & VERSAL?
In many ways, the two patterns are similar. There are however two main differences:
Versal is a saddle shoulder design, whereas Saglan is a hybrid between saddle shoulder and raglan construction.
Versal’s neckline is shaped with short rows, whereas Saglan’s neckline is shaped with traditional increases.
A more detailed comparison of these two patterns, can be found here.
