Voigtlander Skopar + Dappled Light

Leica CL + Voigtlander Skopar 35mm f2.5

I love the lyrics to Future Islands Songs, but often get them wrong. For instance, I was certain the lyrics to Shadows were ‘light streaming in the corner of my room,’ but having just looked it up I’ve learned it is ‘light setting.’

We saw Future Islands in Dublin in 2018, and will see them again in Belfast this March. The photo made me think of the song in any case. One of my first test photos with the new camera I did not know I wanted.

It is in equal measure fulfilling and disconcerting to live with someone who knows me better than I know myself.

Now in addition to the familiar photographic setup I’ve been using for ages and had no intention of deviating from, I suddenly own a Leica CL I didn’t know I needed.

The lilies in the photo stand in a part of our house where the light is so temperamental, it is impossible to photograph anything with any degree of nuance. And yet, on the first try, I captured the flowers exactly as I {want to} see them. I was only testing the lens.
