Leica Summicron-C 40mm f2 {2}
During the brief bursts of decent light I also managed to test the Summicron-C on Kerry wearing knitwear.
These are at f2.5, as anything wider than that does not allow me to get both the eyes and the crucial parts of the fabric in focus. I do not need for the entire sweater to be in focus, but the relevant parts showing specific construction details relevant to the design - in this case the shoulders. In truth, f2.8 would have been even better.
Between this and the previous set of photos, I am fairly confident that the 40mm focal length is indeed ideal for me. The lens characteristics… I am not 100% sure yet, and I need to get to know it a bit better. I think the main thing is, I need to stop trying to shoot it wide open and instead use it the way I would normally use a lens for knitwear photos. When the light and weather allow, I will keep trying.
