Socks for Christmas… and Beyond

Over the years I have learned to take my husband at his word, when he asks for hand-knitted socks as gifts for every special occasion. The only time I’ve ever seen him disappointed in fact, was when I disregarded this request - thinking surely he must be tired of my knitting by now - and got him store-bought presents. He tried to hide it, but I could tell by the searching look: The sock-shaped void in his life that day was palpable.

Lesson learned. If the man says ‘please knit me more socks,’ he means it. And this year it so happened he’d worn out several pairs at approximately the same time, and was now struggling having enough to wear over the course of a week.

So I knitted him socks, once again.

Lots of socks.
