Finding My Grey

I love this grey and wonder why.
Does it absorb the winter sky?
reflect the clouds as they float by?
or match the flecks inside my eye?
suits all my clothes, so I needn’t try?
Perhaps.
But also it’s just my

Grey.

The Donegal Yarns mill produces many shades of grey Donegal tweed. I have tried probably half a dozen over the years, and love them all. But for my skin tone, this grey has been consistently my favourite. It is a light-to-medium cool grey, with colourful flecks that - depending on the light conditions - produce either a slightly greenish, or a slightly lilac colour cast. If your skin - whether light or dark - has cool/ purple undertones, this shade of grey will be very complementary. It also brings out the nuances in dark green, grey, and hazel eyes.

(As you can tell, I’ve been thinking a lot about greys recently!)

For anybody interested in this specific yarn, it is a special edition Donegal Tweed made exclusively for knitwear designer Edel McBride. I managed to snag the final sweater quantity before her last batch sold out. However, anyone interested in this specific yarn can pre-order it here.
