Shells and Seaweed
We live very near to the beach, and the house is filled with all manner of shells, driftwood, and bits of dried seaweed that I have collected over the years. I try not to take anymore home, but today I again filled my coat pockets.
These cross-sections of shells looked especially interesting, and there were lots of them washed up today.
There must be over a dozen different types of seaweed native to this area. This one looks like some sort of kelp, that has been bleached colourless.
And this one is dried-up Ascophyllum, probably the most typical seaweed here that all the rocks are covered with.
Walking on the beach has become such an ordinary activity, that I very rarely take photos there. But the other day I was looking at the shells and seaweed and wished I’d bought my camera - so this morning I did.
