Rose and Caoimhe by the Sea

Leica CL + Leica Elmar 90mm f4

A follow-up to the forest portraits several weeks ago, we finally had the opportunity to photograph my mother-in-law with my daughter by the water’s edge. A thick fog descended that morning, which were the conditions we were hoping for.

These portraits look softer and gentler than the forest photos in the dappled sunlight. I also think the setting suits their complexions and personalities better. These photos are slightly retouched for printing {to remove lint from coats and a couple of blemishes - nothing major}, and it will be nice to have one of them up in the house - probably the first one.

I find it considerably more difficult to photograph family members compared to other subjects, and still haven’t taken a photo of either my daughter or my mother-in-law that I am entirely happy with! Perhaps to finally do so is a new year’s resolution.
