Crossing the Bridge
The Peace Bridge is a pedestrian walkway across the River Foyle, leading to the Derry city centre. It has a winding shape to it, and a variety of textures - making it both interesting and challenging to photograph. When the sun is out, the shadow patterns are especially captivating.
The day was dark and overcast, with almost a slate-grey sky. But once every hour or so the sun would emerge briefly - which, combined with the dark sky, made for some interesting light. This lighting lasted for almost exactly how long it took to cross the bridge. Then disappeared, giving way to a heavy downpour.
Here the rain had already begun, but the sun had not quite disappeared yet. I snapped this photo and quickly tucked my camera away, then rest the rest of the way across pelted by rain and hailstones.
