Anna’s Marled Saglan

Just in time for the bleakest days of winter, Anna has finished her delicious marled-yellow Saglan Pullover.

I wanted to share the result, because it is such a perfect example of using 2 fingering-weight yarns held together to achieve the DK-to-Aran weight for which the pattern is written.

The yarn Anna used is Drops Flora, which is a wool-alpaca blend at 420m/ 100g. She held together 1 strand of yellow (shade 17) and 1 strand of white (shade 02), and used the recommended gauge.

The fabric is somewhere in the middle between firm and drapey, with good stitch definition that shows off the shoulder lines nicely.

If you are not familiar with Drops Flora, this is an inexpensive, mass-produced yarn widely available in Europe. Combining two colours together in this manner infuses it with a degree of nuance, which it does not normally possess! A great technique to use, if you want to create your own colour palette or add depth to yarns with rather ‘flat’ colour-schemes.

Anna’s pullover is a Size 4, and she used 250g of each colour.

The Saglan Pullover is available on ravelry and in my webshop. It is suitable for DK to Aran weight yarns, or any equivalent that works at a gauge of 18 stitches per 10cm. See here for a detailed discussion of yarn selection for this pattern.
